The Hotel RH Princesa belonging to the RH Hotels chain receives two new awards from the hands of two of the great British tour operators working in Spain.Jet2holidays delivered, within its Quality Award, the 4-star Winner 2018 Award in its All Inclusive category. And on behalf of Thomas Cook, another great British company, the hotel was named the Sunny Heart Silver Winner and included the hotel in the prized list of “Your best hotels 2018″.

In both cases, prizes are awarded by guests who have previously stayed and who, after their holidays, provide important feedback according to their personal experience at the hotel. The relevance that these awards have at a tourist level, given the influence that, today, the real opinion of travellers has, has become the best guarantee for the choice of destination by new customers.

The town is divided into five parts, Poniente and Levante, each fronted by a beach of the same name, the Old Town, La Cala situated to the west side of Poniente and El Rincón de Loix situated to the east side of Levante.

Between the two beaches lies a rocky promontory and the port. The old town occupies the centre and port area immediately inland, while most of the hotels occupy the more recently developed sections inland from the two beaches. A few miles from shore is an uninhabited island (Peacock Island) which provides a dramatic centrepiece to the seascape.

Prior to the 1960′s, Benidorm was a small fishing village. Today it stands out for its hotel industry, beaches and skyscrapers, built as a result of its tourist-oriented economy. According to the 2013 census, Benidorm has a permanent population of 73,768 inhabitants, ranking as the fifth most populated town in the Alicante province. The unique skyline formed by its numerous tall hotels and apartment buildings, which is unlike any other on the Costa Blanca, and bears witness to the fact that Benidorm has the most high-rise buildings per capita in the world.

In 1954 Pedro Zaragoza Orts, the then young Mayor of Benidorm, created acity building plan that ensured, via a complex construction formula, every building would have an area of leisure land, guaranteeing a future free of the excesses of cramped construction seen in other areas of Spain. It is the only city in Spain that still adheres to this rigid rule. Most of the streets in the city are named after places such as Avenida de Uruguay, Avenida del Mediterráneo, Calle Pekín, etc. Avenida del Mediterráneo is a wide avenue that crosses Levante and links the old town with Rincón. Avenida Europa crosses Levante at right angles linking the western city limits with the Levante beach.

Benidorm is connected to the FGV railway line between Alicante and Dénia. The section to Alicante is now converted to tram operation and trams run at least every half an hour between Benidorm and Alicante. Trains run (now hourly) from Benidorm to Dénia (via Altea and Calpe) in connection with the trams.

Benidorm offers endless possibilities: from taking a walk along the promenade, swimming in the crystal clear waters, water sports, a boat excursion to the island of Tabarca, or a wander through Benidorm’s historic old town which is in great contrast to the wide avenues of the main tourist town. It’s privileged climate and great infrastructure have all gone to make Benidorm a resort full of fun, with a fantastic nightlife, but is also a destination that offers peace and tranquillity. Truly a place with something for everyone.

Between them, in the old town area and below the shelter of the Canfali hill is the small cove of Mal Pas and opposite, the Benidorm Island, a paradise for scuba divers.

As we have mentiones, Benidorm has two glorious beaches, Poniente and Levante, both of which are backed by beautiful promenades as well as a small marina. The bustling, historic old town is well worth a visit, breath-taking views of both beaches and the impressive skyline. The twice weekly market (Wednesdays and Sundays), and La Marina shopping Centre offer the avid shopper more than enough choice. The three golf courses range from a championship 18 hole to a 9 hole pitch and putt and not to be forgotten are theme, water and animal parks to visit. There is an incredible selection of entertainment and excitement for people, including cabaret shows, nightclubs and every type of bar you could wish for from sophisticated to Irish. A wide range of restaurants of all nationalities from A La Carte to Spanish tapas and the inevitable English breakfast!

June 24th. The date remains a magical night in much of the northern hemisphere. Mythology states that strange occurrences will take place on this shortest night of the year. Men and women, young people and children, all tradionally spend time to build bonfires. According to tradition, if people jump over a bonfire three times on the night of San Juan, they will be cleansed and purified, and their problems burned away. San Juan is celebrated on the night of June 23rd in Spain. This celebration is about changes. It is about night to day; it is about fire to water. Fire purifies and water recuperates, refreshes, and rejuvenates.

It’s common to see people jumping over fires which, according to legend, cleanse the body and the soul. Jumping in the sea at midnight is supposed to be a way to wash away evil spirits.

The night of “San Juan” is a very old festival in Spain and will take place on Monday 23rd June . This ancient festival, originally with deep religious meaning but has become diluted and is basically a night of partying and fun with friends and family.

The beaches, especially Benidorm, La Cala and Albir will be crowded with both locals and tourists out to celebrate the start of the Midsummer solstice. Many people gather in groups with family and friends, starting to descend from about 7pm onwards. They bring tables, chairs, food and plenty of drinks in cool boxes. As bonfires aren’t allowed on the beaches, the locals have taken to lighting candles and gathering aroun them, just as it is was were a bonfire.

It is an amazing atmosphere and at midnight those brave enough go into the sea, take coins, flowers or fruit which they throw in for good luck – then light a candle for their dreams to come true. For those not that brave a splash and paddle will do

So make sure that you reserve the night of June 23rd for “La noche de San Juan”. Bring  drink, something to eat, carry a sweater if you are going to be near the water, and be prepared to see the sun rise on the morning of the 24th. There are always concerts, music, and other types of entertainment to keep revelers interested all night long. Purify and enjoy.

The VERTI -GO drop system enhances the impact of this attraction besides the adrenaline release and is a challenge for the more daring as the accesses to the slide itself is through a sealed capsule through which you will reach a trapdoor which opens unexpectedly. You can expect a 66 % incline slope which is almost falling into the void over 100 km in just 3 seconds. This attraction also offers majestic views from the top of Aqualandia crowned by a dome of original design that will allow visitors to see the heights as the tower that stands by the attraction is 42 meters high.
