We take a tour of the places you can visit on your next holiday to Benidorm
Benidorm is known, by many, as one of the paradises of the Mediterranean thanks to its warm weather throughout the year, and for having two of the best urban beaches in Spain that, year after year, fly the blue flag as a guarantee of quality, cleanliness and services. But, Benidorm offers us many more things. Beyond spending a few days of sun and sand we reveal other charms that will make those who wish to enjoy endless adventures during their holidays fall in love with this city, once again.
If there is something that dazzles everyone, it is being able to enjoy incredible views over the Mediterranean and, of this, Benidorm has a lot, here we leave you some of the most spectacular viewpoints from which to contemplate the immensity of the sea and the impressive Benidorm sky line:
The Cross
We recommend you visit this place, both day and night, since it is one of the most magical places in the city, from which you will have one of the best views of the Benidorm Sky Line and its beaches, being at an altitude of 217 metres. It is located at the top of Sierra Helada at the end of Rincón de Loix and you can get there on foot or by car, although our recommendation is that you do it walking, since, during the way, you will discover extraordinary bays and unique views.
Benidorm Castle
Also known as the Balcony of the Mediterranean, it is located in the so-called Punta Canfali, next to the Gastrohotel RH Canfali. From this place you will perfectly appreciate the division of the two beaches in Benidorm, the Poniente Beach and the Levante Beach and it’s practically the center of Benidorm’s Old Town.
As we have mentioned, the Gastrohotel RH Canfali is located in the same enclave and in it you will discover two of the secret viewpoints of Benidorm: its lower terrace where you can enjoy the gastronomy of its D.Vora Restaurant, while you contemplate an infinite sea, since it’s suspended over the cliff, and the terrace on the top floor from which you can see the entire city: the old quarter, Levante Beach and Poniente Beach.
In this same place, you can also visit the Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana with its blue dome, typical of the Mediterranean style.
Hermitage viewpoint
Yes, at one end of the Levante Beach we found the Cross viewpoint, at the opposite end of the Poniente beach is the Hermitage viewpoint, which you can access by car or on foot, however, if you decide to go on foot it is better to do it first thing in the morning or late afternoon so that the heat is not strong, since the walk will be done on a high incline.
Another thing you can do in Benidorm during your holidays is to discover its surroundings. These are some of the most recommended excursions:
Guadalest and its turquoise reservoir
You will find this small town just 20 kilometers from Benidorm. Famous for the great beauty of its streets and its surroundings, your visit will discover small corners that will make you know the old area of El Arrabel and the Castle neighborhood, connected by a tunnel dug into the rock. As a curiosity, in this town you will find a multitude of museums of miniatures, models, objects of daily use, etc.
When you reach the upper part of Guadalest you will have one of the most impressive views of the area and discover the reservoir that is located at its feet and that will definitely surprise you when contemplating the turquoise color of its waters.
Altea and Villajoyosa
These are two of the most beautiful towns in the area and are located a few kilometers from Benidorm. Altea closest to Levante, and Villajoyosa to the other end, in Poniente. If Altea will attract your attention for its streets of white houses, Villajoyosa will do just the opposite, since the color invades the facades of its houses located next to the beach. Two very different but essential towns to visit during your Benidorm holidays.
Benissa
Another of the best excursions to do in Benidorm will be visiting Benissa, its location in the heart of the Marina Alta and surrounded by the Oltá, Bérnia and La Solana mountains offer endless incredible hiking routes that you can enjoy any month of the year.
Other activities that will make you discover Benidorm from another point of view are located in the sea:
Go scuba diving or snorkeling on Benidorm Island.
The famous image of Benidorm Island, in front of the bay, is essential in most of our snapshots, so, it’s time to get to know it close up and enjoy this excursions to do in Benidorm in which, in addition, you will enjoy the sea, since this small island houses a submerged platform known as La Llosa and is a Marine Reserve of great wealth and diversity, which is why diving enthusiasts will live a unique experience in Benidorm. To get there you can do it by booking the excursion with one of the many companies available or, for the more adventurous, you can do it if you combine it with another sports activity: traveling the distance from the beach to the island in Kayak.
Ski in Benidorm
Finally, although it may seem strange, in Benidorm you can also practice skiing, yes, on the water. On Levante Beach you will find the famous Cable Ski where you can enjoy different modalities: wakeboard, monoski, wakeskate, kneeboard or two skis, you decide what you dare with!
